What is UPC Certification?

Designated as an American National Standard, the Uniform Plumbing Code (UPC) is a model code developed by the International Association of Plumbing and Mechanical Officials (IAPMO) to govern the installation and inspection of plumbing systems as a means of promoting the public’s health, safety, and welfare.

 

The UPC is developed using the American National Standards Institute’s consensus development procedures. This process brings together volunteers representing a variety of viewpoints and interests to achieve consensus on plumbing practices.

 

The UPC is designed to provide consumers with safe and sanitary plumbing systems while, at the same time, allowing latitude for innovation and new technologies. The public at large is encouraged and invited to participate in IAPMO’s open consensus code development process. This code is updated every three years. How Do LED Lights Work?

LED lights work very similarly to standard light bulbs except for the fact that LEDs are much smaller and contain no filament. Instead of a filament, an LED creates light using nothing but the movement of electricity along the path of its semiconductor. As the electrons stream across the semiconductor, they create electromagnetic radiation. Some forms of this electromagnetic radiation can take the form of visible light, which we can perceive via sight.

What are LED Lights?

LED stands for “light-emitting diode.” LED lights are extremely small semiconductor diodes that are capable of creating light. The light that is created by any given LED can be of any color and can even be ultraviolet or infrared. The light that is created by an LED light depends on the material that is used to make the semiconductor and the current that is run though it. There are many different types of LEDs, including miniature ones, as well as high-powered LEDs and multicolor variations.

How does a solar system convert the sun’s energy into electricity?

The solar module converts a portion of the sun’s energy into DC electricity and this electricity, or specifically the current, travels to the battery via a conductor – usually copper wire. The battery stores the current as amperage, similar to a gas tank storing gasoline. A battery is also designed to produce voltage which, when combined with amperage, gives power. The battery power may be used at any time to operate devices connected to the battery. When a battery is receiving and storing current from the solar module, the battery is referred to as being charged or charging.

What is Radiant Heating?

Radiant heating is a technology for heating indoor and outdoor areas. Heating by radiant energy is observed every day, the warmth of the sunshine being the most commonly observed example. Radiant heating as a technology is more narrowly defined. It is the method of intentionally using the principles of radiant heat to transfer radiant energy from an emitting heat source to an object.
